Lyrics: Love Broke the Fall

LOVE BROKE THE FALL

I have seen the darkness when I had no hope,
Hanging by a thread at the end of my rope.
You can’t tell me nothing’
‘Bout the bottom I don’t know.
Been down ‘bout as far as a man can go.
Trouble was my daddy, my mama misery,
Guess I did not fall too far from my family tree.
Brothers and sisters can’t you hear me callin’ you?
Everything I’m about to say
I swear is the gospel truth.
Love changed it all. My back ain’t up against no wall.
I’m walkin’ proud and I’m standin’ tall.
Love broke the fall, broke the fall, broke the fall.
Now I see the blue skies through the pourin’ rain.
If I stumble, hit the ground, I get back up again.
I’ve traded my dark cloud for a sunny point of view.
I’m a walkin’ talkin’ testament
To the things that love can do.

Honey Makin' Time

Everything is lookin' up
And the world is turnin' ‘round
Everyone is hookin' up
And the lost are gettin' found
Sunny days and starry nights
And everybody sees the light
And I got me a song to sing

I will be your honey bee
and you my dandelion
I can't keep away from you
now it's honey makin' time

All the skies are clearing up
And the slow are gainin' ground
Every cup is fillin' up
There's enough to go around
Every loser's gonna win
‘cause every ship is comin' in
And I got me a song to sing

I will be your honey bee
and you my dandilion
I can't keep away from you
now it's honey makin' time

Cold days have come and gone
somehow we've held on
and all is right with this world again

I will be your honey bee
And you my dandelion
I can't keep away from you
Now it's honey makin' time

He Tells All the Girls He’s a Cowboy

He Tells All the Girls He's a Cowboy
A west Texas man with a thousand acre spread
Got Tony Lama lizard skin boots upon his feet
Got a Stetson big as Dallas riding on his head
He goes on and on about the rodeo
And how far it is from here to Abilene
Yeah, he tells all the girls h's a cowboy
He just don't tell 'em that it's only in his dreams

Where he's six foot two
his eyes are steely blue
He's big and strong and never wrong
and knows a thing or two
Girls all sigh every time he walks by
he thinks he looks a little like James Dean
Yeah, he's a cowboy
But it's only in his dreams

He tells all the girls he's a cowboy
And ain't nothin ever gonna fence him in
He's always tellin' stories 'bout the good old days
How it was and how it should have been
He don't like a thing about the city
He don't wear a thing but old blue jeans
Yeah, he tells all the girls he's a cowboy
He just don't tell 'em that it's only in his dreams

Where he'six foot two
his eyes are steely blue
He's big and strong and never wrong
and knows a thing or two
Girls all sigh every time he walks by
He thinks he looks a little like James Dean
Yeah he tells all the girls he's a cowboy
He just don't tell 'em that it's only in his dreams

Happy trails to you 'til we meet again¦

Let Me Be Your Friend (An Animal Adoption Song)

Let me be your friend
Let me walk by you
I need someone to love
And I'm hoping that maybe you do too

Let me be your friend
I'll never let you down
When times are rough
You can count on me, I'll always be around.

I just some place of my own where I belong
And who knows it just might be that
You could use a friend like me
Open up your heart and if you feel like I do,
I can be your friend, you can be mine too.

Let me be your friend
It's easy to do
Something good to eat,
A warm place to sleep, and a hug or two

Let me be your friend
Tried and true
When you come home
I'll be there by the door just to welcome you

I just some place of my own where I belong
And who knows it just might be that
You could use a friend like me
Open up your heart and if you feel like I do,
I can be your friend,
Through the thick and thin,
I can be your friend,
You can be mine too.

Let me be your friend
Let me be your friend
Let me be your friend
Let me be your friend.

My Forever Family

In my life I've never known
Where it is that I belong
Maybe you could be that place for me
This I wish this I pray
This I hope and dream some day
I will find my forever family

Take a look at me
There's so much to see
Who I am and all I can be
You can't change the world
But you can change mine for me
Take a look in your heart and see
If there's a place there for me
And could we be a forever family

A day becomes a week so fast
And soon another year has past
And I'm still waiting patiently
Someday soon I just know'
Like the dream I can't let go
I will find my forever family

Take a look at me
There's so much to see
Who I am and all I can be
You can't change the world
But you can change mine for me
Take a look in your heart and see
If there's a place there for me
And could we be a forever family

When My Heart Remembers You

There are days I swear I'm doing fine
Nights go by you don't even cross my mind
I believe I'm finally over you
But then I see what your memory can do

It can break my heart over again
It can take me back where I wish I'd never been
It can open up those doors that took so long to close
And all the things I thought I knew
Turns out they're just not true
When my heart remembers you

There are times my world it turns so right
Even my dreams take me through the night
And every sky is clear and crystal blue
But then I see what your memory can do

ALRIGHT

I’m sittin’ here looking’ at the bills I gotta pay
And the stack’s getting’ higher every single day.
You know, the money ain’t comin’ in
Like I wish it would,
But it’s all gonna be alright.

Well, I turn on the the TV, I put on the news,
I wonder why the heck people doin’ what they do.
Looks like things ain’t never gonna change,
But it’s all gonna be alright.

Alright, alright, it’s all gonna be OK.
Alright, alright, it’s all gonna be OK.

I put on my jeans and they feel a little tight.
I look in the mirror and it don’t look right.
There’s an old man looking’ back at me,
But it’s all gonna be alright.

There was a man in the White House & Momma used to say,
“Don’t say nothing’ if there’s nothing good to say.”
…But it’s all gonna be alright.
And the rain’s gonna fall and the river’s gonna rise.
But in spite of everything it’s gonna be alright.
The wind’’s gonna blow and the baby’s gonna cry,
But in spite of everything,
Everything’s gonna be alright.

Once upon a time I had a full head of hair,
Then I blinked my eyes and now there ain’t much there.
It’s growin’ out my nose and comin’ out my ears,
But it’s all gonna be alright.

Now I find myself in the middle of a room
And I don’t remember what it was I was gonna do.
I know it was important but I can’t tell you why,
But it’s all gonna be alright.

IS YOU

I like to wake up early ‘fore the sky turns blue.
I like to hear a good story & then hear that it’s true.
I like sittin’ by my window thinkin’ ‘bout a thing or two,
But the thing in my life I like best is you.

I like remembering the good old days when everything was all brand new.
I like the way that the sunshine makes
Tiny diamonds from a drop of dew.
I like knowing there’s a day up ahead
When I ain’t got much to do,
But the thing in my life I like best is you.

I could worry about this and that , if my hair’s too thin,
if I’m getting’ too fat, I could worry, but
What would that do?
Instead I think about the things I love and
Pretty soon I rise above,
And right there at the top of it all is you.

I like walking in the moonlight,
the sound of rain on an old tin roof.
I like to hear Stevie Ray play
A three-chord song and the truth.
I like the way that my feet feel
walking ‘round without my shoes,
But the thing in my life I like best is you.

A Different Plan

I put on my belt with my name on the back
Grabbed my boots and my spurs and my cowboy hat
I was ready to ride that ol' dusty trail again
From the kitchen I could hear my mamma say
You better come on boy the bus is on the way
My cowboy days they were coming to an end
And life had a different plan

I was 16 when I met the love of my life
I couldn't wait to graduate and make her my wife
I could see us in a house with kids, we'd be the perfect family
One thing though I guess I didn't see,
What I saw in her she didn't see in me
Happily ever after had an early end (never happened in the end)
And life had a different plan

at the time it seemed to me
‘bout as bad as things could be
way more than I could understand
everything was falling through
inspite of all I couldn't do
it somehow all worked out in the end
when life had a different plan

My cowboys days are all long gone
But I can sit and sing a cowboy song
About the girl who broke my heart and what I learned along the way
Sometimes you win when you think you lose
And when you get what you didn't choose. Ya gotta
Have a little faith it's the work of bigger hands
When life has a different plan.

like a feather in the blowing wind
like the sand on the beach when the waves roll in
go with the flow, ride with the tide
when life has a different plan

Standing in Stone

There's a house on a corner in an old Texas town
People pass by and they never look around
We take things for granted, we're livin' so well.
But oh, what a story that old house could tell.

Over the ocean, guided by faith
A young German family came to this place
With hope and a dream and damn little else
If the good lord was willing they'd build a house.

and the rocks in the walls were gathered by hand
from a hardscrabble field when they cleared off the land
and the pieces of limestone chiseled with steel
hauled here in wagons, carved from the hills
and the bricks they brought up from ol' San Antone
the people and times they're long since gone
but the house is their story standing in stone.

There were days they swore it'd all been in vain
Outlaws and Indians and too little rain
The harder the times, the harder they'd pray
The good lord would give more than he'd take away.

and the rocks in the walls were gathered by hand
from a hardscrabble field when they cleared off the land
and the pieces of limestone chiseled with steel
hauled here in wagons, carved from the hills
and the bricks they brought up from ol' San Antone
the people and times (are) all long since gone
but the house is their story standing in stone.

still you can see how the house used to be
one room ain't much house at all
but the times they got better
and the house it got bigger
it's six rooms, a front porch, and two stories tall

and the rocks in the walls were gathered by hand
from a hardscrabble field when they cleared off the land
and the pieces of limestone chiseled with steel
hauled here in wagons, carved from the hills
and the bricks they brought up from ol' San Antone
the people and times (are) all long since gone
but the house is their story standing in stone.

MY AIRPLANE IN THE BACKYARD IN THE SKY

When I was just a little boy way back in my hometown
I found a way I could fly and never leave the ground
I got me some scraps of wood, a hammer and some nails.
I found a rusty TV tray and I used that for the tail.

Every day after school I couldn’t wait to get back home.
I was building me an airplane I could ride upon
It would take me over Egypt, past castles in the air.
Farther than my eyes could see, it would take me anywhere

I could fly, fly, I’d close my eyes and I would hold on tight.
I could fly, fly, in my airplane in the backyard in the sky
In my airplane in the backyard in the sky

A high school boy lived next door, his name was Jimmy D.
He used to stand out in the yard and he would make fun of me.
He said that thing ain’t never gonna fly and I was wasting all my time.
He was right in his way, I was right in mine.
Every now and then things in this world can bring me down.
But I remember my little backyard and when it was I found.

DOWN TO FAITH

I have come to a place in my life,
Angels have fallen and rivers all run dry.
Things I believed in,And dreams I’ve been dreaming
Start my way then pass me by.
The less I have, the more I see
That it all comes down,
And it all will come down,
See it all comes down to faith.

I have followed the ways of my heart,
Turned down the easy streets & golden boulevards.
But even this high road
Ain’t nothing but a side road,
And guiding lights are fallen stars.
